News Link Critique

The News 7 News Link website is a very informative site. It offers written news articles as well as videos to convey the news in the simplest most effective manner. It covers a rather broad area, including Around the North East Kingdom (Vermont, and New Hampshire). The site also has local Weather, Sports and special coverage. In conclusion, the site is both informative and convenient to use due to the site's pure simplicity, which translates into being very user friendly.

Alex Shea's big day

My partner Kevin and I are going to be interviewing film maker Alex Shea about his most recent snowboard film "The Weekend," which premiered last Saturday at the outing club in Lyndonville, VT. This was a big day for Shea since the film was sponsored by snowboard outer wear company "FACE". The company "FACE" was started by Shea's good friend and LSC alumni Steve Mahon. The film features both ski and snowboard riders from the group known as the "VILLEBILLIES". During this interview not only will we be talking to Shea about the creation of this film from start to finish, but also we'll be learning a little about Shea himself and what got him into independent film making.

Pod Casts

The reason I chose the NPR podcast was because it seemed informative and at the same time fun to listen to. I liked it because it was recommended by some of my professors, but also because it was one of the most top rated pod casts. I plan on continuing on listening to NPR's pod casts since they are entertaining as well as a good source of news. What I didn't like about the podcast was how long it was, I wish it could be more compressed. Other than that I have no complaints about the podcast. I have put the NPR podcast on my iphone so I can listen on the go.

The Bridge Over Roaring Creek returns!

Last year's flood destroyed the 75 year old bridge over Roaring Creek. Since the loss of the bridge the County has been working on getting it fixed for people who relied on the bridge. The cost of the bridge was $700,000.00, the county had to pay $100,000; the state $200,000; and the U.S. Department of Transportation paid the most with $400,000. The freak destruction of the bridge became a big inconvenience to many of the people who used it everyday. Oak Grove resident, Josh Spiva commented, "Traveling all that way has made it very inconvenient for a lot of people. We've had to use a lot of time and gasoline just to make what otherwise would be very short trips. Having this bridge erected so quickly is a blessing." After a full year of having no bridge; The bridge was officially opened this morning, at a 11 a.m. during a ceremony. The ceremony included guests such as Midville Major Seth Montana, U.S. Congressman Nancy Draughorn, and United States Senator Warren Johns.
